The birth stories on these pages have been
sent to us from parents, just like yourself, who had a doula with them
during their labor and birth. Although labor did not always turn out as
expected, the doula was there with them, being supportive and encouraging,
helping them every step of the way. Enjoy!
Felicity, Stephen & Aiden
Felicity had planned to have her first baby in a birth
center attached to a hospital. During transition she felt she could not go
on any longer and insisted on having an epidural, which meant moving into
the hospital. Once there, she began to truly surrender to her labor and, to
her amazement, she pushed her baby out on her own, without having any drugs.
Nikki, Ross & Ally (and Sam, Robbie, Erinn,
Sarah, Sandy & Nita!!!)
Nikki (Singapore) had planned to have her fourth baby at
home unassisted. Her children were present at her birth, together with her
husband, her doula and another doula who was taking video.
Claire,
Neil & Lydia
Claire (Singapore) had a long posterior labor with the
birth of her first baby but ultimately labored and birthed without any drugs
or medication. This resulted in her having a deep sense of fulfillment from
the hard work she did and the strength she found. |
